How to prevent tracking yourself
Whenever you open your email or test your tracking pixel, you will trigger the collection process. This data can skew your analytics results. To keep your data high-quality, JustOpened offers two powerful tools to prevent tracking yourself.
1. IP Blacklisting
You can add your own IP address (and those of your team) to a global blacklist. All activity from these addresses will be excluded from your visualizations and counts.
To add an IP, navigate to your Settings > IP Blacklist page. We'll even pre-fill your current IP address for a quick one-click addition.
2. Pause and Resume Data Collection
Most self-tracking happens while you are originaly composing and testing your email. You can pause data collection during this phase.
- Toggle "Paused" in your campaign header before you begin composing.
- Compose, test, and send your email.
- Toggle "Resume" once the email is sent to start capturing actual recipient activity.
Detecting Self-Tracking
If we detect activity from your current network, we will show a high-visibility warning banner on your dashboard. This allows you to quickly add the IP to your blacklist without having to navigate away from your charts.
Blacklisting from Raw Data
In your individual campaign analytics, you can view the "Raw Data" table. If you spot an entry that you know is your own, simply click the "Blacklist IP" icon on that row to instantly hide all future (and past) activity from that address.
